Our office is committed to providing opportunities for students outside of the traditional academic year.<\/p>\n<p>Remember,\u00a0Summer Session is separate from all other terms and the financial aid process is also different. Please email <a href=\"mailto:summer@wsu.edu\">summer@wsu.edu<\/a> for further clarification!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"builder-section-1472600512523\" class=\"row halves gutter pad-top pad-bottom\">\n<div style=\"\" class=\"column one \">\n<header>\n<h2>Summer aid\u00a0requirements<\/h2>\n<\/header>\n<p>In order to receive summer aid, you must be enrolled in WSU Summer Session:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Undergraduate students:\u00a06 credits<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Graduate students:\u00a03 credits<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you are Pell Grant, Washington College Grant or College Bound eligible and you did not use all your annual award for these aid sources during the regular academic year, you could receive summer aid even if you\u2019re enrolled in fewer than 6 credits. Awards would be prorated based on the total number of credits you are enrolled in for the term.<\/p>\n<p>If you are Pell Grant eligible and you did use all of your annual award during the regular academic year, you may be eligible for additional Pell Grant during the summer when you are enrolled in at least 6 credits.<\/p>\n<h4>Deadlines<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Your FAFSA must be received and processed by WSU by <strong>July 19<sup>th<\/sup><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The last day students can accept loans for guaranteed summer-term delivery is <strong>July 19<sup>th<\/sup><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<div style=\"\" class=\"column two \">\n<header>\n<h2>Summer financial aid process<\/h2>\n<\/header>\n<div>\n<p>Financial aid for\u00a0summer follows these basic steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Complete the FAFSA<\/strong>\u00a0for the current academic year at <a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/\">studentaid.gov<\/a>. Once this is done, we can begin reviewing your information.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Register for Summer classes<\/strong> (minimum 6 credits, undergraduate; 3 credits, graduate).<\/li>\n<li>You will receive an email from WSU Student Financial Services letting you know whether you are eligible to receive summer aid. If you did not use your entire Federal Pell Grant and Direct Subsidized loan eligibility during the fall and spring terms in 2022-23, then it\u2019s possible you could receive these forms of financial aid.<\/li>\n<li>Whether the university has available monies to offer students (Institutional Grant and work-study).\u00a0If funds are available,\u00a0you may also qualify for institutional grants and work-study depending on your EFC (expected family contribution) as determined by the FAFSA.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If you qualify for the <a href=\"https:\/\/wpnetwork.financialaid.wsu.edu\/stage-wds\/scholarship\/college-bound-scholarship\/\">College Bound Scholarship Program<\/a>, you may be able to use funds for summer if you have\u00a0remaining eligibility within the program.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"\" class=\"column two \">\n<h3>Scholarships<\/h3>\n<p>In general, university scholarships are not awarded during the summer, but some WSU departments and colleges do award scholarships during this term. It&#8217;s\u00a0best to contact the academic department for more information.<\/p>\n<p>Some scholarships may require you to be enrolled as a full-time student, which means you would have to be enrolled in 12-18 summer credits as an undergraduate or 10-18 summer credits as a graduate\/professional student.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"builder-section-1472605493057\" class=\"row side-right gutter pad-top pad-bottom\">\n<header>\n<h2>Dropping classes and canceling enrollment<\/h2>\n<\/header>\n<div style=\"\" class=\"column one \">\n<h3>Dropping classes<\/h3>\n<p><em>Dropping a class could affect your current financial aid.<\/em> If you drop below the minimum credit requirement, your aid could be cancelled, which would create a bill you must pay the university.<\/p>\n<p>If dropping a class would cause you to drop below the minimum credit hour requirement, you will need to add a new class to replace it. Our office will send you an email if at any time during the summer session you fall below the minimum credit requirement for aid.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<div>\n<h3>I received a SAP denial notice.\u00a0Can I still get summer aid?<\/h3>\n<div>\n<p>If you&#8217;ve received a SAP denial notice, you must file an online SAP appeal immediately to be considered for financial aid for the summer term. If your appeal is approved, you would be placed on an Academic Plan for summer. The academic plan must be signed and returned as soon as possible to our office before your summer financial aid will deliver to your student account.<\/p>\n<p>If you do not appeal, any summer financial aid already disbursed will be cancelled and you will owe the university this money.<\/p>\n<p>SAP appeals must be submitted by the second week of the first session you are enrolled.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/submitsfsdocs.wsu.edu\">Submit a SAP appeal<\/a>. If you need any assistance or clarification, contact us at <a href=\"mailto:sapappeal@wsu.edu\">sapappeal@wsu.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div style=\"\" class=\"column two \">\n<h3>SAP\u00a0requirement<\/h3>\n<p>Dropping classes or canceling enrollment may affect your financial aid eligibility for future terms. If you&#8217;re not meeting the federally defined requirements for satisfactory academic progress (SAP) toward a degree, you could be placed in\u00a0a warning or denial SAP status.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wpnetwork.financialaid.wsu.edu\/stage-wds\/sap-requirements\/\">See SAP requirements here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Canceling enrollment<\/h3>\n<div>\n<p>Withdrawing from all of your classes in the summer could cause a portion of your summer financial aid to be cancelled and returned to the U.S. Department of Education based on when you withdrew from your classes. This is a requirement based on the <a href=\"https:\/\/wpnetwork.financialaid.wsu.edu\/stage-wds\/documents\/2017\/06\/return-of-title-iv-policy.pdf\/\">federal policy of Return of Title IV Funds<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you need to cancel your summer enrollment, please <a href=\"http:\/\/wpnetwork.financialaid.wsu.edu\/stage-wds\/contact\/\">contact us<\/a>.
